MEET OUR PILATES INSTRUCTORS

Eleanor Montgomery

Owner / Instructor

Eleanor began her love of Pilates as a student in 2006, while pregnant with her first daughter. Pilates made the birth experience extraordinarily easy, and got her postnatal body quickly back on track. At the suggestion of her instructor, Eleanor decided to become an instructor herself. She began STOTT Pilates training in 2008, following the birth of her second daughter. Currently, she is a Level I, STOTT pilates instructor, with ISP (Injuries and Special Populations) designation, and a specialty in Athletic Conditioning. In addition, she has completed Level II coursework for advanced pilates students. Eleanor has a particular interest in the body's subacute phase of healing; working with clients who have concluded Physical Therapy post-injury, and helping them return to the activities they love including: dance, running, tennis, golf, and hiking. She also enjoys working with pre/postnatal clients.

In 2017, three years after the birth of her third daughter, Eleanor created Pilates Mountain Brook--an all-apparatus, boutique studio catering to clients who have a passion for healing the body through movement. Each client is offered a customized journey through pilates that is intended to improve the quality of their life, throughout their lifetime. Pilates Mountain Brook consists of a team of confident, experienced, and established women, who are excited to share the elements of pilates with the community and beyond.

Kat Prince

Instructor

Kat Prince has always been intrigued by how the body moves and how to optimize movement patterns for function, balance, and beauty. Her career as an executive in higher education was filled with excitement and stress. While pursuing her doctorate and working for an accreditation group in Washington DC, she quickly learned that she had to manage the stress. She explored and experimented with various physical fitness methodologies. She discovered that Pilates covered everything she was looking for – release from stress and back pain; core strength and stability; muscles tone; and improved posture, balance and coordination.

She practiced both classical and contemporary Pilates. When she realized that she wanted to teach, she settled on STOTT Pilates (contemporary) as the most effective and accessible method to optimize physical movement for functionality and fitness for the broadest audience. In 2017, she became certified in Mat.

She earned full Level I certification shortly thereafter. She teaches Mat, Reformer, Chair, Cadillac, Barrels, and the Tower. She is passionate about sharing the profound benefits a contemporary Pilates practice can offer all bodies. Her areas of interest include the Actively Aging Population, Athletic Conditioning, and Injuries and Special Populations, particularly those with movement disorders caused by Parkinson’s Disease. Kat has completed multiple workshops and is also a Total Barre Qualified Instructor, a ZEN*GA Qualified Instructor, and Injury and Special Populations Trained. Most recently she completed the Fascial Movement Instructor Foundation Course and is fascinated by the fascia and how it affects movement. In addition to all thing Pilates, Kat enjoys traveling and scuba diving with her husband, hiking, cooking, reading, symphony, opera, and being entertained by her two Persian cats.
